Hi the prices do vary somewhat. Are you sure its 1944 not 1844? anyhow do you have an image you could post. as a guide they can vary from a few pounds to 40-50 all depends on stamp or not and quality of perforations ie have they been cut etc. look forward to the images. lj

Hi,

I recently sold a whole page of penny reds . There were about 35 stamps of various conditions. The lot only reached a price of about 8 US Dollars! Your stamp will only have a real worth if it is in really good condition with margins all around and preferably equal. The plate number will also have an affect on value. You will find this number hidden in the latice work to the sides of Q Vic's head. It is very well concealed and you may not be able to find and read it without a magnifying glass. A high resolution picture may reveal it. If its '77' let me know as it will be very valuable!!!

regards

Jim (franklystamps)

Penny Reds depends on the collector, maybe there a fannatic and is saving all the different variations to each number like A-A to A-t and then B-A til B-T and so on til T-A til T-T, Today i found my first inverted one, mind you its defekt, but at least i have seen one

Hello Gerry,

Please can you upload an image, so to help anyone with giving an answer?  I am not the moderator of this section, but do know that seeing the condition is vital.  Thanks.. and good luck.

Hi There,

I have an imperforate Penny Red plate 116 postmarked in Cardiff letters G-G in all 4 corners.

The adjacent stamp is partly visible on the left hand side.

I think it is a "Cardiff Penny" and therefore very rare.

It is not a brilliant specimen (colour pale)

Could you give me a valuation ?

As previously mentioned in this thread, you need to post a photo (scan) and then someone can probably help you.

Hi Guys, I was having a clear out over the weekend and came across my old stamp collection from when I was a kid. No idea if any of it is worth anything but thought I'd post a pic of some penny reds. Any info would be very much appreciated. Thanks for looking. Marc.
